Floating World - Japanese Culture Inspired Illustration
Floating World integrates elements of traditional Japanese culture, incorporating cherry blossoms, floral motifs, and scanned paper textures to soften the sharp edges of vector illustration. The goal was to create a "floating" atmosphere, evoking a sense of mysticism through wisps of smoke and drifting clouds. The raw, organic quality of the vector lines was intentional, giving the piece a slightly “imperfect” aesthetic. Inspiration came from Japanese artists Mitsume Takahashi, Aki Akane, and Miho Hirano, with influences from Art Nouveau seen in the flowing forms and decorative details.
